ANOTHER ARTICLE CLEARLY INDICATES SODANI'S ROLE IN THE AGITATION WHICH LED UP TO THE SHOOTING OF WPC FLETCHER ON THAT FATEFUL DAY IN 1984:

LONDON--The placards read, in English and Arabic, 'Gaddafi hangs students'. They were aimed not just at Gaddafi but at Dr. Omar Sodani, the official spokesman of the new Revolutionary Council that took over the embassy last month.
The Libyan opposition calls Dr. Sodani 'the hangman of Benghazi', alleging that he took personal charge of the public hangings in Benghazi University in 1977, when he was a leading figure in the Libyan students' union.
Dr. Sodani was arrested for obstruction outside the embassy during the protest but before the shooting began.
His importance to the zealots inside the People's Bureau is such that his arrest alone might have been the trigger for the shooting."
