"LIBYA SAYS BRITISH PLANTED SPENT CARTRIDGE IN EMBASSY--LONDON--
Libya accused Scotland Yard today of planting a spent cartridge that British officers says proves a sniper at a window of the Libyan Embassy machinegunned a Libyan dissidents' rally. Britain denied the allegation.
Police said the found a small, Italian-made handgun today, the seventh handgun discovered in a three-day search of the embassy building.
Police said the handgun found today, a 6.55mm Armi Galesi Brescia Brevetto, was discovered when officers moved a piece of furniture.
On Tuesday, police reported finding three Colt Cobra .38-caliber handguns, two loaded with five rounds of hollow-nosed dum-dum bullets; another 18 rounds of dum-dum bullets; six rounds of .25-caliber ammunition; eight sets of body armor; two Sterling automatic machinegun magazines; two Sterling pistol grips; another .25-caliber bullet; a Smith and Wesson .32-caliber; a loaded .25-caliber Beretta; and a loaded Browning pistol."
