SUBJ: PATHOLOGIST INQUEST REVEALS CAUSE OF DEATH

MORE DETAILS EMERGE FROM ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER ARTICLES PUBLISHED FOLLOWING THE MUDER OF THE POLICEWOMAN IN ST. JAMES SQUARE ON APRIL 17, 1984. THIS IS FROM THE EVENING TIMES DATED APRIL 20, 1984:

"LONDON--Dr. Ian West, consultant forensic pathologist at St. Thomas's Medical School, said there was more than one wound on her body. But he said the cause of death was a firearm wound to the abdomen.
Commander Bill Hucklesby, Commander of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist branch, told the inquest at Westminister Coroner's Court of the events leading to the death of tiny 25-year-old WPC Fletcher.

'On Tuesday, April 17, at about 10:10 a.m. about 70 people representing the Libyan Exiles in Britain organisation, were demonstrating against the regime of Colonel Gadaffi in Libya, outside the Libyan People's Bureau at 5 St. James Square,' he said.
'As that demonstration started, two counter-demonstrations, each consisting of about 15 people, took place on either side of the main demonstration, but opposite to it.
'Members of the counter-demonstration had earlier been seen to come from the Libyan People's Bureau. Twenty-three unarmed police officers had been deployed to police the anti-Gadaffi demonstration. Other officers had been held nearby in reserve.
'WPC Fletcher was one of the officers deployed. She was facing the anti-Gadaffi demonstration, standing about 25 yards from, and with her back to, the Bureau, when a burst of automatic gunfire was fired.
'Several eye-witnesses said they saw an automatic or semi-automatic firearm being pointed from a first-floor window of the Libyan People's Bureau, with smoke and flames coming from the barrel of the weapon.'
Commander Hucklesby added: 'WPC Fletcher was shot in the back by one bullet. She was taken to Westminister Hospital, where she died of her injuries at 12:35."
